In October 2011, PBS will premiere Women, War & Peace. This groundbreaking five-part primetime special series will reframe our understanding of modern warfare through deeply moving human stories about women in the midst of conflict, peacemaking, and post-conflict rebuilding in Colombia, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Liberia.

Mark your calendars! Women, War & Peace will premiere on October 11th on PBS. The five part series will air on PBS Tuesday nights at 10pm October 11, 18, 25, November 1 and 8.

On October 18th, PBS will show the U.S. broadcast premiere of Pray the Devil Back to HellPray the Devil Back to Hell chronicles the remarkable story of the courageous Liberian women who came together to end a bloody civil war and bring peace to their shattered country. Thousands of ordinary women, both Christian and Muslim, came together to pray for peace and then staged a silent protest outside of Liberia’s Presidential Palace. Armed only with white T-shirts and the courage of their convictions, they took on the warlords and nonviolently forced a resolution during the stalled peace talks. A story of sacrifice, unity and transcendence, this film honors the strength and perseverance of the women of Liberia. Inspiring, uplifting, and most of all motivating, it is a compelling testimony of how grassroots activism can alter the history of nations.
